Best practices for email deliverability when sending to German & EU recipients (GDPR-friendly)

Hi everyone,

I’d like to start a discussion about email deliverability and compliance when sending emails to German and EU-based recipients, especially for businesses using platforms like Netcore Cloud.

From my experience, the German market is quite strict when it comes to privacy, consent, and inbox placement. Even well-designed campaigns can end up in spam if some fundamentals are missed. Here are a few points I think are worth discussing:

GDPR-compliant consent

Double opt-in is highly recommended (and often expected) in Germany

Clear consent wording and proper record-keeping help avoid legal and deliverability issues

Authentication setup (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)

Correctly aligned SPF and DKIM are essential

DMARC with at least “none” policy helps monitor spoofing and improve trust

Content & language considerations

German ISPs seem sensitive to overly promotional wording

Using clear, honest subject lines in German (or bilingual when appropriate) improves engagement

Unsubscribe & sender transparency

Visible unsubscribe links are not only required by law but also improve sender reputation

A real company address and contact information build trust

Engagement-based sending

Sending only to active users helps avoid spam traps

Gradual warm-up for new domains/IPs is especially important in EU regions

I’d love to hear from others:

What challenges have you faced when sending emails to Germany or the EU?

Any Netcore Cloud–specific tips or configurations that worked well for you?

Looking forward to learning from the that's not my neighbor community!
